Se qualcuno ha tempo nelle vacanze natalizie e vuole fare qualcosa per aiutare la comunitЮ OS/2, un ottimo modo sarebbe quello di scrivere un articolo per la newsletter VOICE o OS/2 eZine. Non c'Х bisogno di essere giornalisti per scrivere un articolo. E' sufficiente avere una storia da raccontare.

Hai del nuovo hardware o un'applicazione software che vorresti che gli altri usassero con OS/2 o eComstation? Un articolo su come fare ( How-to ) Х semplice da scrivere: Х sufficente tracciare una scaletta che rispecchi tutto ciР che hai fatto per far funzionare qualcosa. Degli articoli recensivi possono aiutare a destare l'interesse degli utenti su applicazioni e hardware supportati da OS/2 Vi ricordiamo che, sia la newsletter che la eZine sono in lingua Inglese.

Microsoft settlement analysis

An analysis of the Microsoft settlement in regards to California can be found at pseudothought.com site. The actual document can be obtained here. Yes it is in .doc format, and is large (280K) but is viewable in Lotus Word Pro 1.6. Essentially Microsoft's only penalty is to donate old pcs and software to schools, something they do anyway, and which is more of a benefit to them (tax write-off, eliminates competition, binds young people to Microsoft only software, Microsoft gets rid of old software they can't sell anyway) then any possible penalty and will actually cost the schools money to support this. Who ever wrote this proposed settlement should be deeply ashamed. It's really just a marketing ploy for MSFT.

Since I am breaking my own rule in mentioning the Microsoft case on the list I may as well also mention Tom Nadeau's take on the USDOJ settlement as well "Microsoft on Truth Serum: The Antitrust Settlement Line-by-Line".

IBM auctions on eBay

Maybe others were aware of this, but it was news to me that IBM is now peddling old and refurbed merchandise and parts on eBay.

Nothing directly OS/2 related, but lot's of systems (Netvistas, ThinkPads and servers(need an AS/400?)) and things like network cards, monitors, drives, controllers and RAM. I didn't see any software listed. Not sure how prices compare with other outlets, but if you are looking for something obscure, this might be the place to look.

Il Server Netcraft bacchettato su OS/2

Netcraft Х il servente che osserva lo stato dei web servers.

I web server con OS/2 installato venivano riconosciuti erroneamente come Server Compaq True64, l'ex-Digital Unix. Ora l'errore Х stato corretto ed Х possibile contare il numero di macchine OS/2 nella rete.
