Logitech M505 mouse

Marca: Sufficiente

(This report is prepared by ecomstation.ru scout), source of information: ??

Alex Taylor: My trusty Logitech V450 Nano wireless USB mouse seems to have broken down, so I just went and bought a replacement. The new one is a Logitech M505, which seems to be the latest equivalent.

However, when plugging it into my ThinkPad T43, the IBM mouse driver really doesn't seem to like it. Vertical movement is smooth (if hyper-sensitive) but horizontal movement is completely borked -- jerky and incredibly sluggish. So I tried switching to AMouse.

The good news is that, using AMouse, the mouse moves smoothly and works ALMOST flawlessly. The problem is with the wheel -- while it works perfectly well as a wheel, its button functionality doesn't. Pressing down the wheel, which SHOULD function as button 3 (middle button), does nothing when using the normal AMouse options. This is a major problem because I rely heavily on the middle button in SeaMonkey/Firefox.

After some inspection of the documentation, I added the parameter /DEVICE:1 to USBMOUSE.SYS and rebooted. This had the desired effect, more or less: the wheel now works perfectly as a wheel AND as a button.

Unfortunately, using this parameter completely disables the TrackPoint (and the documentation, though rather confusingly worded, seems to confirm this).

What can I do to fix this? Can AMouse not support both the TrackPoint and the USB mouse? If not, can the regular mouse driver be persuaded to work properly?

Andy Willis: I had to use the /DEVICE:1 on an old Dell that had a trackpoint but it only had 2 buttons, seeings the T43 has 3 buttons I would have not expected to need it. The /Device:1 disables the PS/2 because it is seen before the USB and thereby tells Amouse what capabilities are available. Try turning off the touchpoint in BIOS as it only has two buttons so may be the one Amouse is picking up.

Kris: Have you checked already the Amouse's control panel to assign the necessary functions? (configure Amouse --> Amouse settings) It turns out to be rather complicated but it is worth the while.
